Brainstorming for a kitchen renovation

December 6, 2013

Ever since I dropped the blender on the stove, we’ve been talking about a kitchen renovation. The current set up is a galley, but does not allow for someone to be washing dishes or loading the dishwasher while someone else is cooking, which makes meals a sort of dance routine. After much debate and talking to experts, we’ve decided that it’s best if we take the peninsula and flip it around to the wall that anchors it. Something like this:

We would keep the pantry, but update it with more efficient shelving. We’re debating rearranging the orientation of the stove and fridge. Does it look like too little shelving to you? We’d try to remedy that would some tall hutch-like cabinetry on the far wall at the front of the house. I love the idea of a butcher block island to increase prep space too.
