Once while researching Newfoundland, I found a source that said Canadian hipsters refer to their cities by airport code. So here it goes. We spent the day after the conference in YVR, which reminded me of North Carolina. Despite the gray buildings and the overcast sky, it seemed very green and springy. But looks can be deceiving – Vancouver felt significantly colder than Whistler! The cold could possibly be related to the unending rain. The airport had a beautiful wall of ferns and grasses that I would have liked to cuddle up beside if it hadn’t been pouring. YVR was filled to the brim with Prii (which Grisha says is the plural form of Prius) which also rung of Chapel-Hillness. Lastly, there was an abundance of knit-graffiti. I would absolutely love to visit again, but perhaps during a less ambiguously spring time of year, like July.
